華盛頓郵報週六世界版的頭條是妮妃雅奪冠的故事。去年12月時，妮妃雅帶著Plane Jane來台灣，在Gstar做了一場演出，有看過妮妃雅表演的人都了解，她的舞台從來都不受限於台上那被規定好的界線之內 —— 那天她衝入人群，站上酒桌，抓著欄杆跳舞。你不得不著迷於她，因為她有那個魔力控制那一整個空間。她的表演像風一般滲透到空氣中，要你連呼吸都一起跟著她lip sync的心跳同步。

在魯保羅變裝賽裡，她穿著黃色大衣，嘴上喊著香蕉，可愛又古怪地登場。但在她滑稽外表的背後，是她一肩扛起的重責大任：她不只要代表台灣競賽，更要打破亞洲參賽者時常提前出局的魔咒，把亞洲文化帶到世界舞台上。

文章內礙於篇幅無法詳述，但她的變裝女兒Bagel Rimrim跟我分享了他們是如何從台灣飛去紐約，在短短幾週的時間內為妮妃雅準備她參賽的服裝與表演。妮妃雅是一個完美主義者，她總是對他們說「做事情不要只是半桶水，必須要展現決心」。但那也給了她無比大的壓力，為了讓每一個outfit與表演都能呈現出完美的細節，大夥不眠不休地趕工到最後一分一秒，直到要上飛機前，妮妃雅自己走到了工作室的地下室，在那裡嚎啕大哭。「她的野心很大，她敢做夢，敢去claim說她要代表亞洲文化。但我相信她壓力一定很大，因為她前面有Raja、Kim Chi...等這麼多的標桿。」Bagel說。

但今天她做到了，在葉永鋕逝世24週年後的今天，台灣的變裝皇后贏得了世界最大變裝比賽的后冠。當她說 ”Taiwan this is for you”，蔡英文說“Taiwan thanks you for living fearlessly.” 我覺得我們都得到了她的能量，知道如何勇敢做夢，知道如何展現決心。這是今年春天最溫暖的徐徐微風。謝謝Nymphia Wind。

Leo Tsao (Chinese: 曹米駬; born July 23, 1995),^[2]^[3] known professionally as Nymphia Wind (Chinese: 妮妃雅‧瘋), is a Taiwanese-American^[1] drag performer and dressmaker.^[4] In 2024, Nymphia Wind was crowned the winner of season 16 of RuPaul's Drag Race, becoming the first East Asian winner of the franchise.

Early life

Leo Tsao was born in Los Angeles and raised in Hong Kong until the age of six when his family moved to Taiwan.^[5]^[6]^[7] Leo was bullied as a child due to gender expression, which led his mother to transfer him to the Holistic Education School [zh-tw].^[8] During high school, his interest in fashion was sparked by K-pop girl groups. Then, he developed a passion for drag, practicing dressing up and getting creative with makeup while studying at the university.^[5]^[9] In 2017, he received a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Atelier from the University for the Creative Arts in Rochester, England.^[10]
