"The Sound of Music" premiered on Broadway on November 16, 1959 at New York's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The Musical was successfully adapted worldwide and was filmed in 1965. The title song "Sound of Music" was sung by Mary Martin at the 1959 premiere, then by Julie Andrews in the later movie adaptation "The Sound of Music" and won an Academy Award, a BAFTA, five Golden Globes and three Grammys among countless other accolades.
