The Red House 《
Yesterday I received the exciting news from my dear friend and editor Gareth Richards that my English-Chinese graphic novel for children, The Red House, will be published by Gerakbudaya next month. Writing and illustrating a book is a labour of love and I am fortunate and delighted that this love was shared by Gareth and the team at Impress Creative & Editorial, Louane Chan Guegan, as well as Pak Chong and the people at Gerakbudaya.
It's been quite a journey. A lot of publishers liked the book, but it either didn't fit with their lists or else they were offering a pittance. But Gareth and I persisted, and Pak Chong agreed to publish. Bravo! There are so many people to thank, and especially Eryn who co-edited, the Chinese editors Shannon Sun and Shih Ai-ning, Helena who did the initial layout, and Pi-I Chang of Element Plus who created the final design, as well as all those who read the manuscript as it was developing. It's a true team effort.
All those who read the book and provided comments my heartfelt thanks goes out to you all!

The scents and colours of Asia, a mixture of peoples and ethnicities, who together build aharmonious community with art, food and music. A group of adorable and eccentric people live in a large, slightly decaying house on an island. An collects colours and lives a calm life in the Red House with the people there, including her best friend Terri. On the surface all seems well. But the Red House hides a terrible secret. The Red House is a story about a community of unique characters, friendship, coming of age and overcoming hardship – in the course of an exciting and magical voyage through South andSoutheast Asia. Our lives can take strange turns, but they are full of colours, hope and beauty.

We are already hot in pursuit of translations into other languages, including Malay, Thai and Burmese among others.

The Blind Assassin
