 Why do BBC anchors keep saying "Around the world and across the UK this is BBC News" so many times?

Probably just one of those odd cringey verbal ticks broadcast media seem to develop, likely some focus group or something came up with it at great expense and they’re so proud of it they feel duty bound to keep trotting it out.

Just in case you didn’t know what the BBC is and were watching it puzzled exclaiming “What is this strange new channel I’ve never heard of and what does it do?”

It could be worse, CNN used to do something similar, geological epochs would pass as they told us how we could be watching CNN “In These Fine Hotels” accompanied by pictures of said fine hotels to the soundtrack of what was apparently a drunk playing saxophone.
