前陣子台灣網路上有許多關於AI文的討論，其實歐美國家「受害」更深更早，有許多調查與專題討論。今年初倫敦圖靈研究所六位重量級學者就曾發表重要研究，分析「AI餿水」(AI slop)的特徵。
特徵一是「不對稱努力」。以前寫一篇報導，記者要採訪許多人，專欄作家要累積一生經驗，部落客要實地遊玩、或至少努力google搜尋文章做整理。AI大爆發前，網紅寫專業分析文章，需要有人讀資料、構思觀點、組織邏輯、最後還要修改文字。
現在透過 AI，產出同樣外觀的文章可能只要 30 秒、一組提示詞。覺得沒寫好？給AI一些提醒，30秒後又是一篇文章。
這會造成，製作一個AI podcast、AI youtube影片，成本不到一美元。生成一篇純AI文，成本又更低。記者寫一篇新聞用掉三小時，新聞發佈後，AI用三分鐘就能重寫一篇類似的文章，就算AI寫的新聞品質較差，但人腦未必能分辨，低成本的AI文有時在網路上還更吸引流量。
特徵二是「大規模可生產性」。這概念強調的是：「AI餿水」不是單一作品，而是一個生態系。每個人都有可能想到就生個圖，搭配自己的文章放上網路，這不能稱為「AI餿水」。
但如果有些人或公司，每天大量用AI低成本生產圖、文、影音，像生產線一樣，為生成而生成，搶佔平台空間，這就可稱為「AI餿水」了。
特徵三是「表面功夫」，如文章四平八穩，頭頭是道，但欠缺靈魂，欠缺個人見解與特色。不過，AI持續快速進步，這特徵未來會越來越不明顯。但生產AI餿水的人，為了降低成本、大量生產，或許還是會留下一些縫隙，讓我們能辨識「這是AI大量生產的產物」吧。
據統計，現在新增的podcast，有39%是由AI產出。這些AI大軍實際的收聽率並不高，但因為製作成本低，加上使用者用關鍵字搜尋時還是有機會被搜尋到，廣告收入就很容易回本。
而快速生產的AI podcast，可以即時反應熱門時事。比如當OpenAI 關掉Sora服務時，「真人」podcast需要一兩天時間來規劃節目、邀訪來賓，AI產製的podcast可以快速上市，讓心急的聽眾搜尋到。
在podcast領域，最知名的一家AI公司就管理了一萬多個節目。在各類影音平台，這類AI公司的影響力一定會越來越大。
Amazon現在提供AI購物秀功能，有些產品點進去，就能聽到AI主持人介紹產品。有趣的是，這AI功能甚至能即時提問，由 AI 把問題排進節目流程，模仿真實 call-in 廣播節目的節奏。
在AI音樂領域，由AI創作的音樂，已接近新增音樂數的一半。雖然整體流量只佔線上音樂市場3%，但多少還是會排擠到人類創作者的收入。
紐約時報今年年 3 月的調查發現，YouTube 與 YouTube Kids 推薦給兒童的影片中，大約有40% 是 AI slop。這對兒童身心發展，恐怕會有負面影響。
2025 年 5 月，研究者馬克・歐文・瓊斯發表一份重要調查，創造一個更精確的詞：「AI餿水戰」(AI Sloperation)。他指的是有協調、大規模的系列活動，部署低品質 AI 生成內容來操縱注意力經濟。這些行動是系統性、工業化的努力，要用挑動情緒、煽動政治極化或誤導性的素材淹沒平台。
現在因為AI的進步，操作者可以低成本地創造各種不同文體，測試哪種題材、寫法能得到平台與使用者的青睞。因為生產內容的邊際成本很低，頻繁發文總會產生一些「爆文」。
說實在，雖然有些粉專看起來很像AI工廠，但我們還是常會忍不住去點一下。
譬如有些「搬運」歷史故事的頻道，有些題材還是會讓我駐足，雖然這樣會讓我覺得有點對不起那些認真的歷史研究者經營的粉絲團。
還是一句老話：面對AI大軍的侵襲，我們能做的，就是增強「媒體識讀」的能力與互相提醒吧。

"AI slop" refers to low-quality, mass-produced digital content created by artificial intelligence that clogs up the internet. This content is often generic, formulaic, inaccurate, or lacks any real value and can include text, images, and videos. It's similar to spam and is often generated to capitalize on internet attention and advertising revenue.
