Vladimir Horowitz 1903-1989, 張己任「他彈的好嗎？」 。 Horowitz Piano Series 此段錄音也是BBC第一次作跨大西洋的音樂會即時轉播. 我當時有錄音帶寄回台中給我二弟. 他聽得如醉如痴.

 Horowwitz plays the Rachmaninov 3rd Piano Concerto in Avery Fisher Hall, New York, 1978 with Zubin Mehta ( His last recording ever of this concerto and maybe the last time he played it. Horowitz was 75 years old in this recording!!!)

 The Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor, Op. 30, composed in 1909 by Sergei Rachmaninoffhas the reputation of being one of the most technically challenging piano concertos in the standard classical repertoire.

「他彈的好嗎？」
鋼琴家霍洛維契（Vladimir Horowitz,1903-1989)跟小提琴家米爾斯坦(Nathan Milstein,1904-1992)都是烏克蘭人，也是好朋友。在紐約時也是鄰居。有一次米爾斯坦談起霍洛維契時說：
「霍洛維契遵照醫師的囑咐，每天下午ㄧ定要在四到五點出去走路一小時，通常他的路線是沿著第五大道經中央公園然後走回家，每次當他回家時都會到我的公寓串門子，其實是來我家彈我的鋼琴，每次也總是要彈斷幾根弦後才離開！有一天他照樣來彈了，一樣彈斷一兩根弦，我女兒在旁邊問我：
『他彈的好嗎？』
『好嗎？』我激動的說：『何止好！他簡直就是奇蹟！他是這世界上最偉大的鋼琴家！』
我永遠也不會忘記我女兒天真又酷酷的回答：
『那他知道嗎？』」
