The New York TimesThe Lucas Museum of Narrative Art opened to the press for a first look at the filmmaker George Lucas’s legacy project. Its architecture can be a bit intergalactic, and Luke Skywalker is never far, but most of the museum is devoted to 20th-century American art. It is set to open to the public on Sept. 22. https://nyti.ms/3TcMWMj

“For thousands of years, narrative art has illustrated our myths — the stories we believe that are not necessarily true, but that give us meaning, purpose and a sense of community,” Hobson said in a statement to The New York Times on Tuesday. “Our goal is to create a museum that celebrates illustrators and the art that shows us who we are.”

Critics have questioned whether the images have a thematic core beyond being fun and accessible. The museum has said, yes, there is, but there is also nothing wrong with being fun and accessible.
