Mozart:歌劇「魔笛」夜女王進場時的設計圖 by Karl F. Thiele(active 1780-1836), after Karl F. Schinkel, German(1781-1841).

Mozart:歌劇「魔笛」夜女王進場時的設計圖 by Karl F. Thiele(active 1780-1836), after Karl F. Schinkel, German(1781-1841). Hand-and plate-colored aquatint,1819.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Friedrich_Schinkel

    Hide or report this

    Hanching Chung
The 33 Variations on a waltz by Anton Diabelli, Op. 120。
  • Hanching Chung
Johann Sebastian Bach - Sonata after Reincken ''Hortus Musicus'' BWV 965
  • Hanching Chung

"The Magic Mountain" (originally titled "Der Zauberberg") is a novel by Thomas Mann, first published in 1924. It is widely regarded as one of the most significant works of twentieth-century German literature. The story follows Hans Castorp, a young man who visits a tuberculosis sanatorium in the Swiss Alps to see his cousin Joachim. What begins as a short visit turns into a seven-year stay, during which Hans becomes immersed in the unique environment of the sanatorium and the philosophical discussions that take place among its residents.
The novel is rich in themes of time, illness, and the nature of existence, reflecting the intellectual ferment of the early 20th century. Mann explores the contrasts between life and death, health and sickness, and the impact of the looming World War I on European society. The characters Hans encounters, including the enigmatic Clavdia Chauchat and the intellectual Settembrini, represent various philosophical perspectives, contributing to the novel's exploration of ideas and ideologies.
Mann's writing is characterized by its erudition and irony, blending narrative with deep philosophical inquiry. The novel's structure allows for a meditative exploration of its themes, making it both a monumental work of fiction and a profound commentary on the human condition. "The Magic Mountain" has had a lasting influence on literature and continues to be studied for its complex narrative and rich thematic content.
