The former Dutch prime minister Dries van Agt recently died hand in hand with his wife Eugenie by euthanasia at the age of 93. He was a remarkably curious man with a great interest in 17th century Taiwanese history and the relation with the Netherlands (he was also the one who agreed to sell submarines to Taiwan in the 1970s). It was a pleasure to spent many hours discussing with him and to discover the man behind the politician.
