George Ranalli, the architect of the new Saratoga Avenue Community Center that opened last summer in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, is the child of Italian immigrants. He grew up in the Pelham Bay section of the Bronx. Designing a community center is special for him, he said, because of all the libraries and public buildings where he spent time while growing up.
