英國廣播公司（BBC）近期接連報道新疆人權問題，因而被中方猛烈抨擊。該台駐北京記者沙磊（John Sudworth）近日已離開中國，改為派駐台灣。他透露自己在中國遭受監控及法律訴訟威脅，拍攝時亦屢受到阻礙和恐嚇，即使離開時亦在機場被跟蹤。
中國外交部反斥沙磊未有履行手續就「不辭而別」，亦否認有政府部門威脅他。
