中國最知名的人權活動家之一、“六四天網”創始人黃琦涉嫌洩露國家秘密案一審開庭。試圖旁聽訴訟的美國外交官表示，他們被拒之門外。
這次審判引起了國際社會的強烈關注，部分原因是現年55歲的黃琦患有可能致命的嚴重腎炎。此外，他85歲的母親近日從四川老家來到北京，尋求外國駐華使館幫助，但遭到毆打，目前被軟禁在醫院。
因幫助尋找失踪人口，黃琦曾受到《人民日報》等官方媒體讚揚，但當他著手調查其他社會問題時，麻煩開始纏身。他所創辦的“六四天網”是一個依靠志願者運行的網站，主要關注徵地、腐敗和勞資爭議等不公現象。因在該平台發布海外異見者文章、揭露汶川大地震的“豆腐渣工程”等，黃琦十餘年間多次被捕入獄。
