2007年，由聯合國與柬埔寨共同組建的柬埔寨法院特別法庭陸續逮捕了紅色高棉二號人物農謝、三號人物英沙里及他的夫人英蒂迪以及五號人物喬森潘，加上已於1999年被捕的康克由，構成了特別法庭的主要被告[5]。2009年2月18日，特別法庭開庭提審康克由[6]，拉開審判前紅色高棉成員及主要領導人的序幕[7]。2010年7月26日，特別法庭以戰爭罪、反人類罪、酷刑和謀殺罪判處紅色高棉統治柬埔寨期間S-21集中營的監獄長康克由35年監禁[8]。2012年2月3日，特別法庭駁回其上訴，改判為無期徒刑。[9] 2014年8月7日，柬埔寨紅色高棉前高官農謝、喬森潘因戰爭罪和反人道罪被判終身監禁。[10]
In 2014, two Khmer Rouge leaders, Nuon Chea and Kheiu Samphan, were jailed by a UN-backed court for life, which found them guilty of crimes against humanity and responsible for the deaths of up to 2 million Cambodians (Khmer), nearly a quarter of the country's then population, during the "Killing Fields" era between 1975-1979.
