These are the final days to see ‘Against Time: The Noguchi Museum 40th Anniversary Reinstallation’ before it closes on January 11.

Featuring more than 60 works, ‘Against Time’ reimagines Isamu Noguchi’s own arrangements of the Museum’s second floor galleries from 1985–88. From early portrait busts and abstract sculptures to project models and dance set designs, many of the works on view were considered to be personal breakthroughs for Noguchi, chosen to represent formative phases of his six-decade career.

As curator Matthew Kirsch writes, the exhibition “draws inspiration from that nascent period when Noguchi’s museum was still an active experiment, when the artist still stalked the galleries and tinkered with their layouts, attempting to improve on the restrictive model of the museum as he viewed it.”
