西方的愛情 婚姻觀 與東方差別大MFA美術館

“𝟏𝟒𝐭𝐡-𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐲 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐭” — 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭

Carved in this marriage casket, you’ll find depictions of the ill-fated lovers Tristan and Iseult during happy times: sitting together under a tree and playing chess. Although, King Mark — Tristan’s uncle and Iseult’s husband — does lurk in the background, trying to find proof of their love affair.

This artifact is housed in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston collection. In our 70th season’s opening performance at the MFA, Camerata will capture some of the heavier emotions from the Tristan & Iseult legend with “A vous, Tristan, amis verai”, in which Iseult writes to Tristan, telling him of the pain he has caused her with his departure.
