In keeping with his more open view on the intersection between the spiritual and secular worlds, the Pope Francis today told the Pontifical Academy of Sciences that God is not "a magician, with a magic wand." The event was billed as meeting to discuss "Evolving Concepts of Nature."
Speaking at an assembly of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, Francis also affirmed that evolution and the Big Bang are consistent with a creator.

Abuse Victim Group Says Pope's Offer to Meet Just a 'Gesture'

Pope Francis says his plans to meet with a group of sex abuse victims at the Vatican is part of an effort to "go forward" with "zero tolerance" in confronting and preventing clergy abuse, but the head of a U.S. victims' group has dismissed the upcoming session as "another gesture, another public relations coup" that could prove meaningless
