George Harrison |
How many times was George Harrison inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? George Harrison is one of the few members who have been inducted into the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame more than once. Like fellow
Beatles Paul McCartney and
John Lennon, Harrison was inducted twice: as one of the Beatles and for his solo career. Harrison, who was
lead guitarist for The Beatles, played some two dozen instruments, including the
sitar,
tambura,
harmonica,
Moog synthesizer,
tabla,
claves,
mandolin and
marimba. When Harrison gathered four rock-legend friends —
Tom Petty,
Bob Dylan,
Roy Orbison and
Jeff Lynne — to record a single, they ended up collaborating on two albums as
The Traveling Wilburys. The
first album won a 1989
Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group.
Quote:
"The Beatles exist apart from my Self. I am not really Beatle George. Beatle George is like a suit or shirt that I once wore on occasion and until the end of my life people may see that shirt and mistake it for me." — George Harrison
