英國政府的高度戒備並非空穴來風，2018年時任首相文翠珊訪華時，一名中國隨行人員曾在其專機內部拍照，英國政府當時為免引發外交風波，未有即時質疑；2008年，時任首相白高敦（Gordon Brown）助理在訪華期間遺失手機，疑似落入中方「美人計」（Honeytrap）圈套；加上近年中國間諜行動「鹽颱風」（Salt Typhoon）滲透美國通訊網絡的傳聞，令倫敦方面不敢掉以輕心。

雖然政府消息人士指，向英航租用包機，主要因為隨同施紀賢出訪的商界代表團規模龐大，同行的還包括政府官員、保安人員及新聞界代表。但前安全事務大臣董勤達（Tom Tugendhat）還是在社交平台留言諷刺，英國今次「不只帶即棄手機，連飛機都是即棄的」。

Today in Kyiv, the leaders of France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Poland agreed that a 30-day unconditional ceasefire should begin on May 12. If Russia refuses, tougher sanctions will be imposed.

The leaders also emphasized support for the Ukrainian army as the key guarantor of the country’s security, alongside the deployment of international security guarantees.

During the meeting, the four European leaders also held a joint call with U.S. President Donald Trump.
