楊弦是我們世代。我聽他譜余光中詩的歌是在永和，當時外文系的張同學還有許多朋友都住那兒。懷念與他們共聽一曲。

楊弦，花蓮人，台大農化系畢業。1975 年 6 月 6 日在台北市中山堂舉辦「現代民謠創作演唱會」，發表一系列余光中詩作譜曲的作品，並自力創作、編曲、製作、演唱、錄音，出版《中國現代民歌集》，平地一聲雷，成為後人追溯的「民歌元年」。1977 年，他出版《西出陽關》，繼續探索「以詩入歌」的手藝，影響了一整個世代的民歌手。楊弦作為「民歌之父」，當之無愧。

楊弦早年兩張專輯都是洪建全文教基金會出版。「民歌」遍地開花，他卻並未加入「金韻獎」、「民謠風」的市場，出國深造。儘管仍然在寫歌，這位「民歌之父」始終沒有真正進入台灣的流行音樂工業。

他的影響力綿延不絕，不只校園民歌和之後的大學城、滾石飛碟世代。首張專輯收錄的〈鄉愁四韻〉是「現代詩入歌」實驗的開山之作，〈迴旋曲〉歷經齊豫、殷正洋、萬芳翻唱，成為考驗歌者詮釋功力的一代經典。五十年後再聽，第一張專輯的〈江湖上〉、第二張專輯的〈帶你回花蓮〉、翻唱卑南語歌謠〈美麗的稻穗〉，都是不可多得的傑作，頂住了時光的考驗。順帶一提，嘻哈歌手蛋堡也曾在 2013 〈演員〉一曲取樣楊弦出國後的創作〈鬧區走過〉。

楊弦最後一次登台，是 11 月 22 日大巨蛋「民歌五十」演唱會。

直到生命最後，他仍創作不輟：近年楊弦學著利用 AI 協助編曲，2025 年由風潮唱片出版最新、也是最後一張專輯《鄉．旅．詩．歌》，收錄 1992 至2024 作品──五十年歲月，楊弦一直是個寫歌的人。

楊弦譜曲的〈民歌手〉，是七十年代台灣青年創作歌謠風潮永遠的主題曲。今天，再聽一次這首歌，敬悼這位以一把吉他掀起千層浪，改變了台灣原創音樂的歷史，卻始終與樂壇種種熱鬧隔著幾步距離的先行者。
