Ricardo Bofill, a Spanish architect behind some of the world’s most startling buildings, died on Friday at a hospital in Barcelona. He was 82.
The cause was Covid-19, his son Pablo said.
His goal, his son Pablo said in an interview, was “to demonstrate that at a modest cost you can build social housing where every floor is different, where people don’t have to walk down endless corridors, and where different populations can be part of one community.”

說到 Ricardo Bofill，很多人會想到在 Alicante 省的 La Muralla Roja（紅牆），前幾年因其出租的觀光公寓而紅遍 IG。不過，導遊想先從他的「工廠（La Fábrica）」談起。
1973 年，Ricardo Bofill 在巴塞隆納郊區的 Sant Just Desvern 小城發現了一個廢棄的水泥廠（見留言照片），有 30 多個筒倉、地下通道和幾個巨大的機械室。廢棄的水泥廠已部分倒塌，充滿超現實主義的元素：幾個無法通往任何地方的樓梯、強大的鋼筋混凝土結構、懸在半空中的鐵製零件，以及充滿魔力的巨大空間。
