Germany Breaks Records With Over 60% Renewable Electricity!
In 2024, Germany generated a massive 62.7% of its electricity from renewable sources — the highest ever in its history!
Wind power led the charge (33%), followed by solar energy (14%), with hydropower and biomass making up the rest.
This comes on the heels of a major energy shift:
Nuclear power is gone — Germany shut down its last nuclear plants in 2023.
Solar is booming — by April 2025, solar power became the #1 electricity source, thanks to over 90 GW of installed capacity!
Yes, fossil fuels briefly reclaimed dominance in early 2025 due to lower wind output — but the Energiewende (energy transition) is still full steam ahead.
Germany is showing the world that a clean, green energy grid is not just possible — it’s real, and it’s growing.
A Climate Milestone in Steelmaking.
Germany has opened a first-of-its-kind zero-emission steel plant, developed by Salzgitter AG, that runs on green hydrogen instead of fossil fuels.
This clean-tech breakthrough eliminates the need for coal-based blast furnaces and reduces carbon emissions by over 95% — without compromising production.
Germany’s move marks a bold step in reshaping industrial norms and serves as a working model for others aiming to decarbonize heavy industry.
How quickly can the rest of the world catch up?

This year, Amsterdam marks its extraordinary 750-year journey from medieval fishing village to global cultural capital with a festival programme as dynamic and diverse as the city itself. Twenty-four-hour neighbourhood festivals, a nine-mile-long street party and a whole year of revelry — Amsterdam is pulling out all the stops for its 750th birthday.
A new Chinese art centre cuts a sculptural figure in the heart of a leafy park in the city of Guiyang in the country's Guizhou Province. AYDC Public Art Center is the work of dynamic architecture studio Atelier Xi, founded by Chen Xi and part of our 2021 Wallpaper* Architects Directory. The project was conceived as a 'comprehensive' public art complex, AYDC standing for 'A Yun Duo Cang', meaning 'our land of dreams' in the local Yi language of Guizhou.
