Tanikawa Shuntaro (谷川 俊太郎 Tanikawa Shuntarō, Tanikawa Shuntaro^?) is a Japanese poet and translator. He has written many books of poetry in addition to translating Charles Schulz's Peanuts and the Mother Goose rhymes into Japanese.

This is a Japanese name; the family name is Tanikawa.

谷川 俊太郎（たにかわ しゅんたろう、男性、1931年12月15日 - ）は、詩人、翻訳家、絵本作家、脚本家。哲学者で法政大学学長の谷川徹三を父として東京都に生まれ育つ。 東京都立豊多摩高等学校卒。

谷川俊太郎 （Shuntaro Tanikawa,1931-）是日本当代著名诗人、剧作家、翻译家。毕业于东京都立丰多摩高校。父亲谷川彻三是日本当代著名哲学家和文艺理论家。十七岁 （1952年6年）出版了处女诗集《三十亿光年的孤独》，之后相继出版了《62首十四行诗》等七十余部诗集。
　　 “生命”、“生活”和“人性”是谷川俊太郎抒写的主题。他的诗作，语言简炼、干净、纯粹，尤其是近年的禅意与空灵，透出一种感性的东方智慧。在战后崛起的 日本当代诗人当中独树一帜，被誉为日本现代诗歌旗手。这本诗集除了从谷川俊太郎出版的数十部诗集中选译了部分作品外。还完整地翻译了谷川俊太郎的两部诗 集，一部是《定义》另一部是《minimal》。

《後悔》

當時這樣就好了
只因有這種無用的假定
雖然想用語言銷毀過去
但眼前了無人蹤的海灘

In his book of poems, "Nijyu-oku Konen no Kodoku" (The loneliness of 2 billion light years《二十億光年的孤獨》), Shuntaro Tanikawa wrote: "On a small sphere/ Humans sleep and wake and work/ Sometimes longing for companions from Mars." The poem later continues: "Universal gravity is a force created by lonely souls pulling at each other."

Waits for the bus in the morning haze

While a little girl in New York
Rolls over in her bed with a smile

A little boy in Rome
Winks at the morning sun that colors the column

On this Earth
Always, somewhere, morning is starting

We are relaying morning

From longitude to longitude
Taking turns protecting Earth, as it were

Prick up your ears awhile before you go to sleep
And, somewhere, far away, you'll hear an alarm clock
ringing

It's proof that someone has firmly caught

この詩は、谷川 俊太郎さんの『朝のリレー』の英訳です。
以前にNESCAFEのCMに使われていましたので、ご存知の方も多いのではないでしょうか。
私、この詩、かなり好きです。
