We hope you're finding some time to relax after the festivities yesterday, perhaps sleeping off all that turkey or curling up in bed with a good book like writer and critic Lytton Strachey.⁠

Strachey was a founding member of the Bloomsbury Group, best known for his collection 'Eminent Victorians', which was first published in 1918 and consisted of biographies of four leading figures from the Victorian era.⁠

【隔壁的房間】不要對死神的邀請拒於千里之外、病榻之間，款待她，如同打開另一個生命理解的世界。人權與倫理，何時有過布盧姆茨伯里派（Bloomsbury Group）情誼那樣的深刻？

改編前的原作者Sigrid Nunez 便置入了類自傳體寫作，把她和蘇珊桑塔格、蘇珊之子David Rieff的三角關係，置於其中，而作中之作裡，平行寫作的畫家 Dora Carrington 和 Lytton Strachey，Virginia Woolf，引為自況，再有了一層對位的關係。

Virginia Woolf 迎接死神的方式和 Susan Sontag 截然不同，而 Dora Carrington 則為了Strachey的胃癌病體，基進對位自殺，這些引用，都鋪墊在《隔壁的房間》裡，死亡作為不朽的那一面，死神，同時也將是你的作者，一起渡假的終章同伴。

阿莫多瓦無疑找到了款待友誼、寫作、生命、藝術、死亡，多重稜鏡的好本子，他所能對此作書寫所做的最大款待（如同作為最友善的死神那般），就是再度於選角工作，對位放上 Virginia Woolf 在《歐蘭朵》電影裡，乩身與靈體的Tilda Swinton，以及，在《時時刻刻》跟Virginia Woolf 跨代對視的Julianne Moore。

Dora Carrington (1893-1932) did not exhibit this work in her lifetime. Her brother Noel wrote to Tate in January 1988: ‘I leave this painting to the Tate as most representative of Dora's best work, and at the prime of her life as an artist.’
