「這是我第一次得戴老花眼鏡，才能來參加這個典禮，我覺得這就是終身成就獎吧。
我曾經獲得許多獎項，而這個獎項對我來說很特別，因為這座獎來自我深愛的同行，能夠這麼困難的時刻相聚，然後共同慶祝，實在令人感動。
我第一次出現在這個活動上，是因為當時的美國導演工會的主席打電話通知我，提到我因為拍了《理性與感性》等片獲得了提名。我感到震驚，問主席：「大家都知道我不是導演工會的會員啊。」 她沉默了很久，然後說：「我們不在乎。」她則問我為什麼不加入，我回答：「因為你們規定，廚師的第二道菜不能是中式料理。」她則回應我：「這正是你必須加入的原因，這樣你才能改變規則。」
隨著時間的推移，我見證了許多改變，也從中受益匪淺。在《臥虎藏龍》上映的那一年，我們在導演工會的劇院放映了這部電影，並宣布將成立亞洲導演的分部。我熱愛我的同行，也為能成為這個行業的一份子而感到自豪。
在我的職業生涯中，我經歷了許多事情，從低成本、簡陋的技術到高預算、高科技的大片，從國內到國外，從不同語言到不同類型的影片。
我曾登上年度十大佳片榜單，也曾有一次進入年度十大最差影片榜單。我曾經獲得導演工會獎，卻未能拿到奧斯卡，也曾拿到奧斯卡，卻未獲導演工會獎。
無論如何，我始終樂在其中，因為這讓我明白，無論起伏如何，追逐夢想的旅程都是值得的。對我來說，這意味著要不斷學習如何拍電影。我大部分學習的方式就是親身實踐，我希望我的整個職業生涯，都能是一所永無止境的電影學院。
我在台灣出生長大，能夠站在這個舞台上，就像實現了我的「美國夢」。我本質上是個夢想家，而夢想不僅僅是個人體驗，更連結集體意識以及潛意識，連結我們的內在世界與外在宇宙。我喜歡思考，無論是最宏偉的理念，還是最細微的內心感受，都是相互關聯、互動的。在某種程度上，我們的夢想是彼此交融的，電影製作同樣是如此，它凝聚了無數人的合作和努力，融合了同行藝術家的貢獻，與我內心的情感和靈魂交織在一起。最終，每一部電影都會我們所有人一起努力的印記。」
恭喜李安，獲得導演工會獎終身成就獎。
依舊期待李安的新作，不知何時才會開拍《李小龍》。

梁祥美女士前幾天過世。我與她的好友唐香燕女士決定在10月3日下午跟她做簡短的告別。
我只跟她相處過一天半多。
香燕出第一本美麗島的書，我們一夥從台北到新竹辦慶祝會。首站是我祥美新居，書，數十本，畫架上有素描稿，說起話，淡淡的。那高樓公寓，對我這種到飛利浦荷蘭村作過客的校友特別有感覺……之後走走十八尖山，新竹美食（錦坤兄選餐廳，國精兄請客）。飯後，清華大學的蘇格拉底的猫？書店中開慶祝會（哲學研究所的張旺山教授請下午茶）。會後，記得由蘇兄送祥美回……
數年後，另頒給她“翻譯貢獻獎”， 祥美全家光臨漢清講堂（有影片上傳YouTube）......

編篡本書的目的並不是要在語言上對原著做完全中實的翻譯，而是想藉作者們偉大豐富的思想，把讀者內在裡美好的思想和情感從每日的閱讀中喚醒。

我們知道，聖經的翻譯本極多，梁祥美女士根據的是香港浸信會的《新舊約前書》：
要凡事查驗，善美的要持守：
馮象譯本《新約》頁438，只是將前書 5：21和 5：22合併，沒多少改善。

又譬如說，11月29日有科修特的 (這是根據日譯本的缺點，缺科修特的原文.......)

在真摯而深刻的領域，語言的翻譯能力 (將腦內所起的概念翻譯成語言)就太薄弱了。
