「這是我第一次得戴老花眼鏡,才能來參加這個典禮,我覺得這就是終身成就獎吧。
我曾經獲得許多獎項,而這個獎項對我來說很特別,因為這座獎來自我深愛的同行,能夠這麼困難的時刻相聚,然後共同慶祝,實在令人感動。
我第一次出現在這個活動上,是因為當時的美國導演工會的主席打電話通知我,提到我因為拍了《理性與感性》等片獲得了提名。我感到震驚,問主席:「大家都知道我不是導演工會的會員啊。」 她沉默了很久,然後說:「我們不在乎。」她則問我為什麼不加入,我回答:「因為你們規定,廚師的第二道菜不能是中式料理。」她則回應我:「這正是你必須加入的原因,這樣你才能改變規則。」
隨著時間的推移,我見證了許多改變,也從中受益匪淺。在《臥虎藏龍》上映的那一年,我們在導演工會的劇院放映了這部電影,並宣布將成立亞洲導演的分部。我熱愛我的同行,也為能成為這個行業的一份子而感到自豪。
在我的職業生涯中,我經歷了許多事情,從低成本、簡陋的技術到高預算、高科技的大片,從國內到國外,從不同語言到不同類型的影片。
我曾登上年度十大佳片榜單,也曾有一次進入年度十大最差影片榜單。我曾經獲得導演工會獎,卻未能拿到奧斯卡,也曾拿到奧斯卡,卻未獲導演工會獎。
無論如何,我始終樂在其中,因為這讓我明白,無論起伏如何,追逐夢想的旅程都是值得的。對我來說,這意味著要不斷學習如何拍電影。我大部分學習的方式就是親身實踐,我希望我的整個職業生涯,都能是一所永無止境的電影學院。
我在台灣出生長大,能夠站在這個舞台上,就像實現了我的「美國夢」。我本質上是個夢想家,而夢想不僅僅是個人體驗,更連結集體意識以及潛意識,連結我們的內在世界與外在宇宙。我喜歡思考,無論是最宏偉的理念,還是最細微的內心感受,都是相互關聯、互動的。在某種程度上,我們的夢想是彼此交融的,電影製作同樣是如此,它凝聚了無數人的合作和努力,融合了同行藝術家的貢獻,與我內心的情感和靈魂交織在一起。最終,每一部電影都會我們所有人一起努力的印記。」
恭喜李安,獲得導演工會獎終身成就獎。
依舊期待李安的新作,不知何時才會開拍《李小龍》。

梁祥美女士前幾天過世。我與她的好友唐香燕女士決定在10月3日下午跟她做簡短的告別。
我只跟她相處過一天半多。
香燕出第一本美麗島的書,我們一夥從台北到新竹辦慶祝會。首站是我祥美新居,書,數十本,畫架上有素描稿,說起話,淡淡的。那高樓公寓,對我這種到飛利浦荷蘭村作過客的校友特別有感覺……之後走走十八尖山,新竹美食(錦坤兄選餐廳,國精兄請客)。飯後,清華大學的蘇格拉底的猫?書店中開慶祝會(哲學研究所的張旺山教授請下午茶)。會後,記得由蘇兄送祥美回……
數年後,另頒給她“翻譯貢獻獎”, 祥美全家光臨漢清講堂(有影片上傳YouTube)......

 梁祥美在《托爾斯泰一日一善》(分春夏秋冬4本) 的〈譯者序〉(1988) ,說明張清吉先生所提供的日譯本:八佳利雄的《人生讀本》和原久一郎的《一日一善》,讓她能轉譯。並說明托爾斯泰在〈原序〉說的主旨:

編篡本書的目的並不是要在語言上對原著做完全中實的翻譯,而是想藉作者們偉大豐富的思想,把讀者內在裡美好的思想和情感從每日的閱讀中喚醒。

我們知道,聖經的翻譯本極多,梁祥美女士根據的是香港浸信會的《新舊約前書》:

馮象譯本《新約》頁438,只是將前書 5:21和 5:22合併,沒多少改善。

又譬如說,11月29日有科修特的 (這是根據日譯本的缺點,缺科修特的原文.......)

在真摯而深刻的領域,語言的翻譯能力 (將腦內所起的概念翻譯成語言)就太薄弱了。
